Madghoot

Privacy

Madghoot privacy policy

Madghoot collects no data. The app has no account, no analytics and no ads, makes no network requests of its own, and keeps your files and saved passwords on your Mac.

Updated

The Madghoot app

Madghoot's App Store privacy label will say “Data Not Collected.” Here is everything the app stores, and where:

WhatWhat happens
Your files and archives Read and written only on your Mac. Madghoot never uploads, shares or analyzes them.
Network The app makes no network requests of its own. The free trial and the unlock go through Apple's App Store.
Personal information None. There's no account, and the app never asks for your name or email.
Analytics and tracking None. No analytics or advertising code, no advertising identifier, no tracking of any kind.
Crash reports The app has no crash reporter of its own. If you choose to share analytics with app developers in macOS settings, Apple may pass anonymous crash reports to us.
Saved passwords Stored in your Mac's Keychain, and only when you tick “Save to Keychain”. iCloud Keychain sync is off unless you turn it on in Settings › Passwords. Showing a saved password needs Touch ID or your Mac's login password.
Folder permissions When you allow a folder, macOS gives Madghoot a bookmark to it, kept in the app's container on your Mac. Remove them any time in Settings › Folder Access.
Preview files Files extracted for Quick Look previews are temporary. They're deleted when you close the archive window, quit or relaunch.
Recent jobs The Recent list (the last 20 jobs: file names, sizes and results) is saved in the app's container so it survives a restart.
Notifications Optional. Madghoot asks the first time a job runs longer than 30 seconds while it's in the background.

Purchases

The 14-day trial and the lifetime unlock are in-app purchases processed by Apple. Apple tells the app whether you have the trial or the unlock. We never receive your name, email address or payment details. Apple's privacy policy covers the purchase itself.

This website

madghoot.com is a static website hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the pages and protect the site from abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It's cookieless: it doesn't set cookies, doesn't use your browser's storage to track you and doesn't fingerprint your device. It gives us totals such as page views and which sites linked here.

The site sets no cookies, shows no ads and has no social media widgets. Apart from that optional analytics script, it loads nothing from other companies: no web fonts, no trackers, no embedded videos. If you switch between light and dark mode, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage and never leaves your device.

Email

If you email dribrahim83@icloud.com, we receive your address and whatever you write, and we use them only to reply. We don't add you to a mailing list or share your email with anyone.

Children

Madghoot is a general-purpose utility. It isn't directed at children, and it collects no data from anyone.

Removing Madghoot's data from your Mac

Because nothing leaves your Mac, there's nothing for us to delete. To remove everything Madghoot stored locally:

  1. Delete any saved passwords in Settings › Passwords first, if you have some.
  2. Quit Madghoot and move it from Applications to the Trash.
  3. Delete its folders in your Library: ~/Library/Containers/com.dribrahimm.madghoot (and the com.dribrahimm.madghoot.finder and com.dribrahimm.madghoot.quicklook containers next to it), and ~/Library/Group Containers/KUHJH6T498.com.dribrahimm.madghoot.

Saved passwords are Keychain items with the service name com.dribrahimm.madghoot.vault, so you can also find and delete them in Keychain Access.

Changes to this policy

If what the app or the website does with data changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change ships, and note it in the changelog.
